Maureen, the co-owner asked how I was as I checked out. I held up my wounded elbow. She promptly took me outside and applied peroxide and neosporin. Oh, and yes, what I ordered was excellent.

The NY Post and its authoritarian line

Submitted by HSchiffman on Sat, 09/01/2018 - 5:16pm

I heard David Brooks last night on the PBS Newshour explain how authoritarian regimes take the exception and present it to their base as the rule in an attempt to rouse the masses by standing between them and the Devil himself.

Here we have an opinion writer for the NY Post oppose bike lanes because young, white males on bikes are terrorizing the populous of our fair city. The author cites statistics on Citibikes as being predominately the above demographics as proof that that they are the privileged few who benefit from the leftist policies of City Hall. To which I ask you, when was the last time you were menaced by a rider on a Citibike? I believe it is called bait and switch. Why let facts get in the way of tar and feathering?

Since seemingly DOT has stepped up it's game, having been even more busy for some time now with major improvements & attempts throut the city, and that Polly Trottenburg will be speaking at next club meeting.

ride before NY marathon

Submitted by jimbrehove on Fri, 08/31/2018 - 9:46pm

Is there info on the bike ride before the NY marathon?

Introduction: At the certain risk of wrongly leading some of you to think I may not be the complete sonofabitch I really am, here is a cordial email back-and-forth I wrote/received today. If you don't know the predicate to this, you had 15 more useful minutes in your week than if you do.

Do ENY riders get temporary club membership and website access?

Submitted by jzisfein on Fri, 08/31/2018 - 1:09pm

I recall reading that ENY registrants (i.e., those who are not currently club members) get temporary NYCC membership. If that's true, does temporary membership start at the time of registration or not until ride day? Does it come with website access including the ability to register for NYCC rides?

I am asking because we will offer an escorted 25-mile ENY ride with advance sign-ups. The escorted ride could be listed on Eventbrite but I'd rather have it listed on the NYCC website along with other C-rides. That would give these temporary NYCC members the experience of signing up for a club ride and maybe then they'll take a look at our other rides.

Has anyone seen the B SIG badges?
