Sunday's Dave Jordan Memorial Ride w/Photos

Submitted by dianegoodwin on Mon, 07/16/2012 - 9:04am

Hello All ....

Yesterday (July 15) and estimated 500 cyclists rode the loop in Central Park to remember Dave Jordan.
Among the riders were our very own, Jody and Christy Guzzetta, who continued on to Piermont Pier and then Cold Springs.

I decided not to ride to Piermont but provide SAG, if needed and to stream a broadcast as well as post photos publicly on my FB page:

Climbers-Sightseers Dream ...

Farmland, intimate back roads of lakeside communities.  Nature preserves and small planes.  Nose bleed climbs.  Ice cream.  Loved the section around Rock Ridge and Cedar Lakes.

Navigators Nightmare!

A ground hogs' day of roads bending back on themselves.  Fifty miles total but no more than fifteen point to point.

Great stuff, Mitch!   Thanks for the hard work and attention to detail!  Made a huge difference.

While I'm at it, look anew at the bottom of http://newyorkbike.com/Fix_the_GWB.html  Added to the screed about mindless policing in Ft. Lee is the ticketing of left turning cyclists for failure to keep to the far right.

Recos for Cycling in Belgium

Submitted by BJalan on Sun, 07/15/2012 - 1:34pm

Hi -

I will be in Belgium in late July and will have a couple days (perhaps an overnight trip) for a cycling trip. Any good recommendations for companies that may run day cycling tours in Belgium (including those culiminating in trappist abbey's). All suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Thirty flats in the Tour today when the same knuckleheaded misathropes who went deep into debt to buy a box of tacks then spread them on the Harlem Hill, went to the Pyrenees and spread tacks on the road causing defending champion Cadel Evans, among others, to flat four times today. (This does not give away today's result). I think the Central Park Precinct is on the case. In the Pyrenees.

Tacks at the Tour de France

It was just announced that somebody threw at least 28 tacks at the top of the Mur de Péguère.  There were multiple flats including that to a major contender.  Thankfully, some great sportmanship was shown today.
