thank you to the volunteers who helped clean up 9W

Submitted by GRoss on Wed, 05/06/2015 - 9:19pm

DOT has asked  us to clean up "our" stretch of 9W twice this year. We are trying to organize an effort for Saturday June 13.

The job is easy and fun. Volunteers appear at the Market on 9W at about 1:00 PM, we hand out trash bags, latex gloves and a map showing the approximately 1/10th of a mile piece we ask you to walk and pick up trash. The whole job takes about an hour.

A good way to do this is to lead or join  ride that winds up at the Market about 1:00 PM. The work is done quicky, there are refreshments and then a ride home back to NYC.

The Bicycle Wheel by Jobst Brandt

Submitted by AnalogStupidity2 on Wed, 05/06/2015 - 7:12pm

With the sad passing of Jobst Brandt today, I was reminded that I lent my copy of The Bicycle Wheel by Jobst to a fellow club member some time in 2006 or so.

If that happened to be you, and you have my book, can I have it back, please?  Thanks!

(It's Christian Edstrom, used to ride a Rivendell and a Pegoretti, and I lived on the UWS if that rings a bell.)

Paint Chip On Carbon Frame

Submitted by GlennT on Tue, 05/05/2015 - 8:10pm

Can anyone suggest how to repair a nasty chip on a carbon frame. The chip is deep enough that the carbon is showing through. No damage to the fibers. I have read about nail polish, Testors model paint...... anyone have experience with this.

Latest on River Road??

Submitted by CWaaser on Mon, 05/04/2015 - 4:51pm

There's a rumor that Henry Hudson Dr., a.k.a. River Road, is once again open to cyclists 7 days/week.  Can anyone confirm this?

Social Sunday 5/10/15 - Bronx/Greenwich/Armonk Triangle

Submitted by nymultisport on Mon, 05/04/2015 - 1:50pm

Marilyn and Ken are planning to ride ~45 miles, along the Hutch service roads to Greenwich, then through SUNY/Purchase and Bedford Rd (our vote for the most beautiful few miles in the area) to a soup/salad lunch in Armonk. We'll return along the Kensico Reservoir, then via Bronx River bike path. We'd enjoy sharing our easy, touring-paced day with a few friends. Please email if interested.

Dr. recommendation for knee pain pls.

Submitted by Ernest on Mon, 05/04/2015 - 1:32pm

Hi fellow riders!

I'm starting to get a sharp pain on my right knee while cycling.

At one point I was thinking of quitting the Five Boro Bike Ride

at the halfway point; but used the time helping out stranded

riders(I was a volunteer marshal) as rest periods and was able to

finish.

Can somebody recommend a sports doctor please? I used the

search function; but got surgeons instead of doctors just for exams

and/or x-rays.

Thanks,

Ernest
