garmin 1000 help

Submitted by droy on Fri, 05/13/2016 - 10:54pm

I've been trying to import the GPS route from a ride in the Ride Library to my new Garmin 1000, but I'm not having any luck.

If anyone can explain the easiest way to do this, I would really appreciate it.  I called Garmin customer support this morning but they weren't all that helpful.

Thank you in advance!

New Recognition Award for 2016 SIG graduates

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Thu, 05/12/2016 - 7:24pm

Hear ye, hear ye, hear all about it!

The  Board of Directors  of the NYCC is pleased to announce a new recognition award for graduates of the 2016 SIG's.

For any new graduate of any of this year's SIG's – if they were to lead 4 rides before year end – before 12/31/2016 – they will be eligible for a  prize NYCC jersey!  Has to be a regular Club ride, I think it's called  "Cue Sheet Ride" - training rides don't count, scouting rides don't, commuting to work, riding your trainer, taking spin classes - none of that kinda stuff counts. Regular "Cue Sheet Rides", lead  4 of them between graduation and year end and you get a NYCC jersey.

Best location for child seat??

Submitted by NBorden on Thu, 05/12/2016 - 4:26pm

My son wants to buy a child seat for his 2 year old son...the LBS

recommended buying a seat  located on the back of his road bike. My son

isn't sure this is the safest position.  Anyone have any recommendations

or experience??   Thanks for any info you can provide.

Anyone interested in a last minute GFNY entry?

Submitted by aleone on Thu, 05/12/2016 - 1:01pm

Unfortunately, GFNY doesnt offer transfers or refunds but it can be done....  I broke my collarbone riding and unfortunately can not ride this weekend.

If anyone is interested in my entrance, let me know. Id provide at a discount.  I had a few friends do it last year: process is I pick up everything and provide it to you Friday sometime or Sat AM.  No issues last year from anyone I know that did it.

I saw something similar posted last year on NYCC, so hope this is not against the rules.

Lights Out Around Tavern on the Green

Submitted by RPu on Thu, 05/12/2016 - 11:56am

For people that ride laps at night in Central Park, there's a spot right around Tavern on the Green where the street lights are out.  It creates a dangerous condition because there's a crosswalk right there, and it's very easy to hit a pedestrian in the dark.  I almost did last night.

I've forgotten the name of our members with the connection to the Cental Park Consrvancy tha can get this fixed.  But it should be fixed.

Cyclist Red Light Ticketing in Central Park

Submitted by FHarris on Thu, 05/12/2016 - 11:21am

There is a campaign to enforce the red light at 72 St on the West Drive before the transverse during commuting hours.  It is very obvious with lots of police cars and stopped cyclists.  This is the 2nd day in a row I've seen it at 9am.  Amazing that plenty of people continue to ride through and get tickets.  Pay attention.
