Hello,
We are looking to offer a couple of escorted rides on the 50 and 75 miles routes next Saturday.
IF YOU DIDN'T REGISTER TO VOLUNTEER WITH ESCAPE NEW YORK YET and YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED NYCC RIDE LEADER we are asking that you lead a ride with Escape New York on September 22nd.
Please sign up to lead a ride under "Escorted Ride Leader Volunteer Sign Up" here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/escape-new-york-volunteer-sign-up-tickets-4...
Best,
Gil Lavi
A nice story
You know me mostly from my bitching. This is not that. This is a story from today's ride of spectacular kindness.
Careful! It's dangerous out there. I'm talking about walking as a pedestrian
Are cell phones and everything delivered in short bites behind a loss of attentions span and focus?
Yes, walkers amongst us while multitasking on their devices make walking less civil. And the tourist boom does slow the pace. Like children, tourists get a pass. They don't know how the city works. And they tend to be under-aggressive, more obstacle than in your face. Most of the time you can walk around them. As much as I rant about walkers running red lights, as any self-respecting New Yorker, I cross when it is safe, respecting the rights of drivers and cyclists, but not the light. Out-of-towners will wait for the light to turn green: quaint, but civil.
New Gran Fondo NJ Course for 2019 - The Estremo
Gran Fondo NJ has a new course for next year called The Estremo: A double metric (125 mi) with 9,500 of climbing.
Since The Estremo is limited to 200 riders, I've created an NYCC team for those who want to join (and who might welcome the team discount).
So email me if you'd like to join team NYCC Estremo....

Anybody fancy doing the Ride to Montauk at around B 16/17 pace? Sat 9/15
Thinking of signing up for The Ride To Montauk and riding all 150 miles at around B16/17.
Anybody else doing the ride and fancy teaming up and having a go?
Paul.

Ride Escape NY A ride with CRCA racers 7:15 departure
Join us! For the 11th year in a row we will be leading an "A" ride for Escape New York. All strong NYCC riders are welcome; not just those that are interested in racing next year. We will meet at around 6:45 AM at Sakura park and congregate right outside on the fence just south of the entrance, at 7:15 we ride. The pace will be steady and we will try to keep everyone together.
I was two days late in writing what I've now removed.
I urged a ballot that would permit us to write-in candidates. I hadn't seen/read Peter's sticky regarding nominations which mooted what I wrote.
