Putting the responsibility for the killing of cyclists where it belongs. (The Times doesn't.)
The New York Times published an article on July 3 https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/03/nyregion/nyc-bicycling-deaths.html? about the deaths of three cyclists on the streets of New York in ten days. "...fatally hit by a truck"..."killed by a car." I wrote the following letter to the editor the Times saw fit to not print:

New York City Bike Family Mass Die In - July 9
Transportation Alternatives in partnership with Families for Safe Streets, Make Queens Safer, WE Bike NYC, and Uptown and Boogie Bicycle Advocacy presents a Mass Die In to protest the killing of cyclists on the streets of New York. We will demonstrate against the 15 fatalities of cyclists this year many of which were clearly poreventable through better street design. We will mourn, we will remember and we will make clear that the city has to provide safe streets for cyclists through design and enforcement.
We cannot accept the current epidemic of traffic violence. Please join us. The life you help save may be your own.
When: Tuesday, July 9 at 6:30 (to 8 pm)
Where: Washington Square Park
Route to Atlantic Highlands
Has anyone done the route from the GWB to Atlantic Highlands How is it.
Thanks

Today’s MultiClub Ride
Multiple Clubs (5), multiple miles (43 and up), the odd flat and no serious accidents that I’m aware of. It was a terrific day all around! Kudos and thanks to all our leaders and our cheerful participants for making it so special.
Update on Bike Path at Rt. 6 Traffic Circle Near Seven Lakes Drive
Unfortunately, the PIPC proposal submitted to TAP NY for funding of the bike path was not one of the selected proposals this year. However, those of us who have been advocates for this project will not give up. I have heard through Ian Diamond, initiator of the change.org petition, who in turn learned this from Senator Skoufis' office, that PIPC is re-submitting the proposal shortly for consideration by TAP in 2019. I hope this means they were encouraged to do so by TAP and the state senators. I therefore will remain hopeful this will win a grant next year, and will continue to work towards that goal.
