BK: Prospect Park loops

Submitted by RMrozek on Thu, 12/02/2010 - 12:43am

I'm planning to do 1 to 2 hours of strong riding around Prospect Park tomorrow (Thu. Dec. 2). My schedule is flexible, but I'd prefer to get it all in during daylight hours. Anyone care to join?

Hey guys,

Send me your email for pics. This bike looks like it’s brand new. There’s very little wear on the frame or parts. I’m posting this bike on here because we don’t get many walk-in customers looking for high-end bikes like this.
Stop by the East Village location of Recycle-A-Bicycle (75 Ave C, Manhattan) and ask for me (Patrick). If you mention this ad, I will give you 10% off the bike.

Looking for 54cm Road Bike

Submitted by KKincaid on Wed, 12/01/2010 - 1:09pm

Hi All - I'm looking for a 54cm road bike, preferably women's - but that's not necessary. I'm still somewhat of a beginner ( I try to ride at least twice a week- short, weekday rides being about 25 miles, longer rides being about 50-60) but I hope to start riding more and even entering some races in the Spring. Therefore I am looking for a solid "first bike" that can transition from longer rides to shorter, quicker rides. I don't need, nor can I afford, anything too fancy...but a good, solid bike that can last me a few years before I -hopefully- upgrade again.

Ideally, I'd love a good bike, model that's been well loved/used but is no longer used as much (ie, has been replaced by newer/better models & is now just taking up space in an apt), and therefore is priced as such.

A22 ride Saturday 12/4 7.30 GWB NJ side

Submitted by Jvan den Berg on Tue, 11/30/2010 - 11:31pm

CRCA/Foundation - NYCC ride. Please join. Our ride will be 40-50 miles allowing us to be back in the city by 10 a.m. or 10.30 a.m. Route will be more or less like this: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/nj/-fort-lee/294128958030251026 but we may vary. Tempo ride in a single cooperative rotating paceline. We will try to maintain the posted 22 mph speed on the flats and we will NOT be waiting for stragglers on the flats. We will regroup atop the hills. Maybe one rest-stop, maybe none, so bring enough pocket food and two full water bottles.

3 Hills in 3 Hours, Saturday, December 4, 10 a.m., B16-ish, meet at Eleanor

Submitted by JFinder on Tue, 11/30/2010 - 7:13pm

This is not a technical ride, so strong C riders (and *CASUAL* A riders) are welcome too.

We'll take River Road, then come back down 9W and tackle Churchill and Walnut, regrouping after each climb. This ride is about fellowship and commiseration, not speed. The average speed for the day may be about 12-14. Your Leader is a B rider, but a SLOW climber. Most of the time I'll be either warming up or recovering. So ... please be kind.

No lunch break; bring snacks and two water bottles. No cue sheet; the ride's in my head. Bring your own maps or directions if you like.

Charity Ride Tips

Submitted by MHanson on Tue, 11/30/2010 - 5:47pm

Does anyone have advice on entering an organized ride as a charity? My friends and I have a charity that we run and were thinking that entering a century (a la Team In Training) would be a fun way to fund-raise next year. If anyone has done this and has tips on what all we should consider logistics wise, it would be greatly appreciated. What kind of responsibility for participants would we have to take on? What kind of support throughout the ride? Etc.

The "I Lied About SI" Ride - Sunday, December 5th

Submitted by MTownsend on Tue, 11/30/2010 - 5:17pm

Look I wasn't lying when I said that our last ride on Staten Island was going to be our last ride of the season. That's what the plan was but then someone e-mailed me asking me when we're going to host another one and when I looked at the long range weather forecast for Sunday(high of 44 degrees!) I thought "Why the heck not?".

So with that in mind we're heading back to SI one more time. This route is going to be a little longer than the SI Merit Badge Ride and it's going to have more climbing as well. We'll have short climbs like Theresa Place and we'll have longer climbs up Douglas Road but what we won't have is Oakland Terrace. :-(
