Bike Storage

Submitted by RMKL on Sat, 06/02/2012 - 11:08am

Like many NYC apartment dwellers, I store my lightweight road bike in my building's bike room.  The room is fitted with wall hangers. While this is efficient and prevents a big jumble of bikes, I have wondered if this method causes damage to my wheels, either the bearings, spokes, or true.  Also, I wonder if its better to hang the bike from the front or rear wheel (works both ways).

Any insight would be appreciated.  Thanks.

To get our beautiful new NYCC postcard, designed by Cathline Marshal, into every bike shop and bike hangout in the 5 boros and beyond, we'll need your help.

Pick up a pack at the June 12 club meeting and make sure your own local shop is supplied!

Sunny afternoon A19/20 ride today.

Submitted by HWoods on Sat, 06/02/2012 - 10:19am

Last night's rain blew out a lot of plans, but now the sun is shining and the forecast is good. The roads may even be pretty dry by noon, so it's the perfect time for a mellow but quick Saturday afternoon ride to Piermont or Nyack and back, saving a little time for a post ride stop at the 103rd and Riverside beer garden.

Meet up at Grant's Tomb at 12pm if you want to join.

Looks like the rain is done.  Might be a little foggy, so wear something bright.

Nyack and Back Ride OFF

So the weather channel says 10-15% chance of precip through noon, but weather underground calls for 80-50%.

Going to play it safe and cancel.

Necking on Long Island ON!

Submitted by TMcCarthy on Sat, 06/02/2012 - 6:26am

The front seems to have moved through.

I will show up at the Boathouse at 8:00 AM and ride out on Long Island to do the ride as planned. I don't have the opportunity to do this ride later.

The roads will be wet. We expect spray and will probably get filthy. We may see some wind. But those up at this hour who want to give it a go, here's your notice.

A-19 SiG Graduation Redux posponement

Alas, not only can I not predict the market - less so the weather. I'm not convinced we'd get off to a dry start. Nor have enough of a window of opportunity to stay be safe at the beginning. I'm canceling the ride to its rain date of 23rd June.

If this date doesn't work for enough people, let me know of another after the 23nd.

                           peace,

Stolen Bike

Submitted by MLevin on Fri, 06/01/2012 - 1:11pm

All,

Posting this from the CRCA group list.

"My 2012 Cannondale SuperSix with Ultegra Di2 was stolen last week from the inside of my car in Brooklyn Heights. It's a 54cm, white black color scheme 2012. Below are a few characteristics that are unique on the bike. Please notify me if you happen to see it on the street or if the thief or new owner tries to bring it in for service, sell, or buy the charger required for the Di2 at your shop. Many thanks in advance for any leads or assistance in this matter.
