Continental 4000S tire failure
I've been riding for almost 50 years and on Continental tires for the last 15 years and have never had a tire fail until a few weeks ago. I was riding up the ramp to the GWB (NJ side) when my front tire expoded. It had light mileage and no damage of any kind. The rim is/was in perfect shape and the tire pressure was between 105-110 psi. The tire is rated to 120.
Tire : Continental 4000S, 23 mm 700C
Rim : Mavic Open Pro
A 2" flap tore away from the kevlar bead causing the inner tube to rupture. Luckily I was going only 5 or 10 mph. A few moments earlier on the downhill before the bridge and I would have likely been seriously injured.
I had to walk the bike across the bridge and to the A train
Today's Gold Coast Ride to Oyster Bay is ON
See you at 9:00.
Hampton Clubhouse thread why is it Locked
Just when we were all having fun someone locked the thread.. Well I guess thats what would happen in the Hamptons..
I just wanted to correct Cyclist90 and add that if we declared ourselves a church the appropriate diety to worship is Eddy Merckx as any good Velominati knows...
A big thanks to all the ENY volunteers
You produced a great event.
Interbike bike show videos
Youtube channel Bikeman4U. He has about a dozen videos up now and is doing about six new ones a day. The downside is that he is not into high end bikes and components.
Dumb question about Metro North bike rules...
Share the Putnam Trail - Bronx Ride to the DEC Hearing
People,
This is from Elizabeth Hamby of the TA Bronx Activist Committee.
FYI, I'm going up and will be speaking. We also have some statements that could use speakers.

Interbike bike show reports: don't read if you're looking for information
Report #1 - 2013
Yes, it's that time of year again when I teasingly rivet your attention to the annual bicycle industry trade show in, ugh, Las Vegas, only to, once again, as I have for many years now, completely disappoint you who expect to actually learn something about the show with, instead, a daily report that is utterly, wholly, and completely lacking in news of anything having to do with it--at least anything you'd like to know. Call it Impressionism. Don't you, club art historian Kitty Dare, call it Pointilism; there is no point.
