Protect the Palisades- let LG know your thoughts
LG Electronics is planning to build an 143 foot office tower, approximately 12-14 stories, that will rise above the tree line of the Palisades, as seen from New York and parts of New Jersey. Four former governors of New Jersey express their opposition in an Op-Ed piece in the March 25, 2014 New York Times.

The mayors of six Bergen County towns that neighbor the Englewood Cliffs site have previously opposed this project as one that threatens the nationally significant integrity of the Palisades.
Bike Fit App
I've had really good professional fits for both my triathlon bike and road bike. I can say it is well spent money. However, I recently came across a review for a new app called "Bike Fast Fit" which I think may be a good quick and dirty method of helping with fit; if anything a fun way to spend an hour. Here is a good review http://www.dcrainmaker.com/
Cycling in the Winter Olympic Games?
In addition to taking pressure off the Summer Games schedule, it would give me something, personally more interesting than figure skating, to watch... though I am quite certain that NBC would screw it up somehow.

Mine Torne Road - in Highland Falls next to West Point - closed for the forseeable future.
A buddy of mine in Cold Spring saw this;
Mine Torne Road closed to the public
Mine Torne Road is no longer a thoroughfare and is closed on both ends. This road is only for military training access and used by authorized patrons for access to hunting and fishing areas.
If the gates are open, do not enter unless you have specific permission..
Authorized users may sign out a key to Gate 63 (Mine Torne Road) from the range operations fire-desk (Bldg. 1403) between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Long Island brevets (200k, 300k) coming up!
I'm posting this for NYCC (and any other bike riding enthusiasts) - - an invite to join the recently minted, local Long Island randonneuring group in this year's 200k and 300k brevets.
They are highly doable for solid riders, and brevets provide a nice alternative to day rides (they are timed events, no racing needed; more like a road rally with check points).
I rode both events last year. The LIRANDO group is well organized with good routes, and the starting times/locations are accessible via LIRR or auto.
Here's the message/invite I received recently, with links and contact info for ?s.

The Threat to the Palisades... (NYT link)
I would think that having four (4) former governors of New Jersey write a piece for the Times is pretty significant... it also would appear, from this, that LG doesn't give a damn...

If these illustrations of cyclists don't make you smile, you don't smile.
NYCC Gear Page
The NYCC gear page still has the old stuff on it.. shouldn't we have pics of the new stuff on the NYCC site..
Also I am going to ask again... Is there going to be a new NYCC cycling cap.
