PIPC policeman vs. NYCC bike parker

Submitted by RRosenthal on Mon, 08/31/2015 - 8:14pm
For some reason, I have become a priest to several ticketed cyclists who have sought me out for comfort, if not absolution. Here is the latest one.

Articles (for one: http://gothamist.com/2013/09/01/ticketing_blitz_of_cyclists_extends.php) two years ago reported the issuance of 33 tickets to cyclists in a single, but, granted, presumably untypical day.

Route is 90 miles to Sharon. I ride at B-17 (or B-16).

Anybody interested in joining me for all or part of this ride?

Now if I were on my bike this morning I'd be sure to stop at that RED light on 1st AVE and 28 St and say good morning to the 2 officers waiting to greet cyclists. Those ain't coffee vouchers they're handing out. Just saying

On our Deja Vu ride to Nyack today I broke a spoke just after we started north on Knickerbocker Road. Norma, my co-leader and Charles took the group on the rest of the ride and did a great job. I was able to get to Bicycle Workshop in Tenafly and they were able to cut a new spoke to size, install it and true my wheel, all for an extremely reasonable price.

I then went straight to Nyack and met or group at Runcible Spoon.

Thanks to the team spirit and cooperation of our fellow members, the ride was not ruined and thanks to the ace mechanics at Bicycle Workshop, I was fixed up and back on the road in plenty of time to meet my group and have a good ride myself.

Off to the Market B15.5 ride. Attn. Waitlisters

Hey wait listers,

Hi All!

The final race in the CRCA's Women's Development Series p/b Hatchmap is taking place this Sunday in Central Park. This series is specifically designed for Cat3 and Cat4 Women to gain race experience. It's a wonderful opportunity for women to get involved with racing, and is also the final chance to race in Central Park this year. Lots of NYCC women have taken part this year.

If you're already a CRCA racing member, you don't even need to register before the race. Season pass holders race for free, and it's just $5 entry for CRCA members who don't hold a season pass.
