Nasty Crash in Prospect Park Today Morning
I don't know the details of how the crash happened, but did see at-least 2 cyclists on the ground and a couple more on the side of the road. The cyclists on the ground looked like they were in a lot of pain and were later transported into ambulances. None of them looked like they were part of any racing team, but I could be wrong.
This happened around 7:00 AM on the West Drive descent, near the lake, where the roads aren't in the best of conditions and one can pick up considerable speed there, upwards of 25-30.
"Odd musings".... post yours here... cycling or club related, of course...
I just realized that I have not been a participant in any club ride in 2015...
A shout out to NY City Council Member Mark Levine for speaking on behalf of cyclists on the GWB
People,
A shout out to 7th District Council Member Mark Levine for speaking out before Port Authority on the George Washington Bridge. Mark's (and my own) comments to PA Commissioners below.
Thanks, Mark!

Good Morning. Chairman Degnan. Director Foye. Commissioners.
My name is Mark Levine. I represent the 7th District in Northern Manhattan, near the George Washington Bridge, where there is a desperate shortage of capacity for pedestrians and bicyclists currently.
CP laps
.
CP is incredibly empty Thursday evening at 5:30 pm. With a good portion of the park drive fenced off, it feels even safer.
The man does work miracles !
Motorcyclists looking out for our interest (in this case maybe better than we do ourselves)
Helmet Advice
All,
I recently crashed, as a result of the repaving on 9W and the height difference between the shoulder and road just south of the Alpine heading North.
Anyways, I am now trying to find a new helmet to get back on the bike in a couple of weeks. I am debating between the following helmets:
Catlike - Mixino
Kask - Vertigo 2.0
POC - Octal Race Day
Does anyone have any experience with any of these helmets and can give me your thoughts? Crash protection and comfort are probably the two most important factors to me.
Thanks,
Mark
ENY - age requirement?
I plan to ride the 25 miles Bergen spin with my son, who is 12.
I am sure he can do it, as we have done similar rides in the past, including the Five Boro Bike Tour in 2014.
I did not see an age requirement on this site and I want to make sure this is ok before showing up at the start.
I would appreciate a response by any informed NYCC member.
Thanks.

Anyone Shipped a Bike to the West Coast Recently?
I have to ship a BikeFriday tandem (two actually) to the west coast. Each will fit in a standard bike box, or in a couple of moving boxes. Any suggestions? UPS? Specialty bike shipping service? Other?
Thanks,
Peter
