Membership Demographics
I apologise in advance for starting yet another thread about membership but I am doing so as my question is a bit different than those brought up by Ellen Jaffe and Derel Chu.
Last year sometime I asked this question and was basically rebuffed. Would it not be helpful to know some more demographics of the club membership. For example a break down by age group and gender. These questions are asked when one joins up. Could not this information be used to pin point where we are losing and gaining members. Is there a particular age group that is being underserved by the club. What might we do to encourage fuller participation.
Montecci folding bike?
Saw one in the display window of a nearby bike shop. Anyone tried one? Any happy (or otherwise) owners to share the experience?
Thanks.
Increasing ENY Participation
I noticed two very large groups riding ENY this year. One of the was Hope for New York. They were riding ENY to raise money for the Hope for New York Charity that works to serve the poor and marginalized of NY. I spoke to a few of them and many of them have done this the last few years, joined NYCC and participated in SIGs.
What a great way to promote ENY, increase membership, and get more people involved in the club. Also it seems a great way for charities to fundraise. They can do a charity bike ride that is one of the best organized rides in the tri-state area and we get the benefit of people who are excited to ride.
Is there any reason we don't make more of an effort to reach out to local charities to suggest this?
Saturday B15 ride to Nyack is cancelled
The weather forecast is grim, rain most of the day and an 18-20 knot nor'easter. The ride is cancelled.

Piermont ticket
Received a ticket for the "single file rule" while exiting ENY Piermont rest stop last weekend. Surprised the Piermont police dept is handing tickets at the exit of an organized event, with no traffic whatsoever and many cyclists riding in the same direction. Also surprised they were doing this very close to the ENY rest stop exit given relationship with NYCC.
In any case, if someone had experience with tickets in Piermont and can be in touch with me it would be much appreciated.
I'm wondering if i should just plead guilty and avoid spending time on this, but i don't know what the amount of the fine is. The ticket is also vague and says "disobeyed traffic control device"

Note to the Board about membership reporting....
Dear NYCC Board,
A current NYCC member tally has traditionally been reported every month at Board meetngs and been recorded in that months minutes.
Yet a perusal of Board minutes in our online archive shows almost no such reporting for the past two years.
If membership is indeed down, it would be useful to visualize any worrisome trend and easy to do if those numbers were available.
Is there a reason for their omission?
Respectfully,
Ellen
THE FOURTH TERM AMENDMENT
The concept of ex post facto precludes the incumbent from taking advantage of the amendment. But more practically the incumbent having served three terms is not eligible to be nominated, and since the amendment will not be counted until the election is held, and thus will not be in force during the election in November the incumbent cannot run.
Let him have his piece of cake.
