Seeking Bike Mount for Polar CS500 Heart Rate Monitor

Submitted by RPu on Wed, 08/17/2016 - 3:58pm

I bought the Polar CS500 heart rate monitor.  I'm looking for a second bike mount so that I can put the monitor on a second bike.

Thanks.

SPD-SL Cleat Placement Fit

Submitted by BrianS5 on Tue, 08/16/2016 - 9:29pm

Hi all,

I just made the switch from SPD to SPD-SL (6 degrees of float) and I realized I should get a bike fit to dial in the proper cleat placement so that it aligns with my biomechanics. I'm looking to spend around $100 my cleat placement fitting. Do you all have any suggestions based on your own experiences?

Many thanks in advance!

New to New York - New to NYCC

Submitted by philacpotter on Tue, 08/16/2016 - 11:23am

Hi All,

I recently moved to the city from the UK - and signed up here!

I'm a little rusty having not put many miles under the wheels in the last few months nor have I ever cycled with a CC before. Which of the early morning laps would welcome someone with a bit of group riding practice to put in and some fitness to recover? Slowcial?

Look forward to meeting many of you over the coming months/years :)

Best,

Phil

Bring out your dead

Yes, bring out your dead. Who had the greatest sufferfest this weekend?

I'm in the running fur sur with 3 hill repeats of Bear Mtn on Saturday where the temperature stayed between 93 and 94 the whole time. And yes, I kept the device out of the sun. You know you aren't playing with a full deck when a stronger rider passes on the way down and yells out, "you're going up again?"

Is anyone holding a higher card?

River Road tree down

@ParkwayPoliceHenry Hudson Dr between Alpine Boat Basin and Undercliff/Englewood Boat Basin CLOSED due to a down tree.

Though it's too late for any of today's riders (unless you're insane enough to set out in this heat), would help to know from anyone tomorrow or Tuesday who does mid-week rides if this has been cleared or reopened.

Tip for boarding train at Peekskill

Submitted by HSchiffman on Sun, 08/14/2016 - 9:30am

You can see an approaching southbound train from the Peekskill platform 3 minutes before boarding.

When first visable, the details can be hard to make out. But keep looking and you should be able to see which cars have center doors. Granted, not all center car doors have a wall opposite the restroom where multiple bikes can be placed, but any center door car on the Hudson line has spaces where bikes can be placed between the last seat and the door.

Therefore, knowing where on the train center door cars are located will give you the opportunity to place yourself on the plateform relative to the correct position for boarding so you don't have to run with your bike to board because you happen to be on the wrong end of the platform.
