New Tappan Zee Shared Use Path Survey

Submitted by CWaaser on Wed, 07/05/2017 - 3:05pm

Within the next 18-24 months, we should see the opening of the shared use path across the new "Mario Cuomo" (Tappan Zee) Bridge. They are conducting a survey to get an idea how the path will be used. You can fill it out at http://www.newnybridge.com/shared-use-path-surveyproject-team-seeks-input-on-path-usage/. Think about what a boon this will be - you could actually ride up to Nyack or Rockland Lake without using the GWB! Or you could do a long ride up the west side of the Hudson and then cross the bridge to take the train home from Tarrytown. Lots of interesting possibilities.

Thanks to Richard Rosenthal for leading a fabulous C ride today

Submitted by GRoss on Tue, 07/04/2017 - 5:04pm

Richard is one of a dozen or so A and B ride leaders who have responded to my request that A and B leaders lead one C ride this year. He is the first to actually do it, today (I only sent out the request about a week ago so this is not meant to reflect on others -- yet).

The ride itself was great. The route was just right for C riders with maybe just a teeny bit extra. The group followed the example set by its leader and rode with skill and a really good sense of group riding discipline. As a result we all had a good time (I was on the ride).

Thanks to Richard -- it's guys like you who make us a club and not just a bunch of cyclists.

Thanks to those who made New Paltz 2017 happen.

To event organizer and C14 leader Peter Storey who, along with Jim Zisfein, wound up with the biggest group of the weekend.

First year leaders Mle Davis and Charles Wang who led challenging B15 routes with aplomb and good cheer.

Organizer Michael Roth, who wrangled the luggage vcrews and led the 17’s with Goldie Fernandez.

Jorge Negrin who provided tech support, and led the 19’s with Alan Resnick.

James Gilbert, Alan Ganley, Gabby Warshawer and the Racing and Development Team for raising the weekend to a whole other level.

Lynette Chiang for once again for making early morning yoga a weekend feature and David Holowka, who made the Huguenot walking tour a highlight.
