Holiday Party-help needed

Submitted by HEskenazi on Sat, 12/02/2017 - 10:17am
I am signed up for the holiday party and would like to attend.

ONE PROBLEM. I am currently in rehab for my knee at Upper East Side Rehab at 211 E 79 St. [between 2 & 3 Ave] I need someone to sign me out and sign me back in. That's all there is to it. Once that is done you don't need to carry me, push me or roll me. I am totally self sufficient and will have no problem keeping up with you. We can take the Q train at 72 Street and 2nd Ave to 42 St, 4 stops. I will leave with you anytime you are ready. Thanks Hal

Heads Up On By-Passing the First Set of Stairs on the NY Side of the GWB

Submitted by RSchmon on Thu, 11/30/2017 - 8:35pm

While we are relegated to the north sidewalk, and tempting as it is to ride the car ramp of the GWB on the NY side to avoid that first staircase, keep an eye out for police.  I am one of the tempted--but fortunately, I glanced behind just as I was about to go for it this morning and saw a police car emerge from some hidden spot as I certainly didn't see it prior. The police car then parked at the very point riders would hop that short wall and stayed there.  I took the staircase needless to say, but stopped and had a brief chat with them on the subject, and they made it clear riders will be ticketed if caught.

Riverside Park Bike Detour- Road Condition Update Error on Monday's newsletter

Submitted by agrisafi on Wed, 11/29/2017 - 8:30am

I am not sure if I have the wrong area, but Monday's newsletter indicated that the stretch of Riverside Park between 59th and 72nd has involved a detour during the month of November and is now complete.  The stretch was operating normally last month but when I rode it on Monday night, there was indeed a detour onto the pedestrian path closer to the river.  I guess that this detour was postponed until now.  If this can be updated/corrected to reflect the estimated time we will have this detour that would be great.

I just heard that we are sold out.  I will be at the venue tomorrow late afternoon to see if we can increase the capacity.  I will post something after 10pm tomorrow.  If possible, we will keep the price to $20 for another day or so.

SIG Leaders wanted for BTCNJ!

Submitted by Cyndi on Sun, 11/26/2017 - 2:52pm

Hello,

A few of you know that BTCNJ (Bicycle Touring Club of North Jersey) has been working with Christy, Eden, Jody, Jorge, Paul and Carol about adopting a SIG-like training program for BTCNJ, because, as many of you know, there is nothing else like it anywhere else in the entire country, if not the world. The BTCNJ board approved a motion to go forward with a pilot program in Spring 2018 for which we are hoping to lure about 4-6 of you incredible SIG leaders to help us with the pilot. We are envisioning a shorter, 4-6 week program, and on Sundays, starting in March-April- ish, so as not to get in the way of your fantastic program.
