The survey says?

Yes, Pedestrians are the major cause of accidents between them and automobiles.

The survey says?

Yes, 19 of top 20 most dangerous cities for pedestrian and car accidents are South of

the mason dixon line.

I can only tell you from my experience that the survey is pretty much correct even in NYC, but most automobile drivers need to learn to signal or look before then turn. Of course Cyslists are the worst

which we all know.already.

Direction to Dobbs Ferry

Submitted by Redmonds on Fri, 07/15/2011 - 8:30am

I would like to ride to Dobbs Ferry tomorrow.  I live on the UWS and was hoping someone can help with a route.

Looking at Google maps it looks like I should head up the S County Trailway.  Is that a paved path and therefore OK for a road bike (which is all I have)?

And what is the best way to get to the start of the Trailway in Van Cortlandt Park from the UWS?

Thanks

FOR SALE - Dura-Ace Shifting & Braking

Submitted by Astoria_Pete on Thu, 07/14/2011 - 8:52pm

I just bought a new bike and replaced the Shimano Dura-Ace with SRAM Red.  So i'm selling the BRAND NEW Dura-Ace parts.  Never been used, didn't even lay my fingers on them.  I have them all neatly packaged in the SRAM boxes with all cables etc.  I'd like to deal green and locally and avoid shipping these beautifully lightweight products (although I'm sure the shipping costs would be pennies!)  For sale I have the following Dura-Ace components;

- Dura-Ace Shifters - Model ST-7900 - 367 grams - $475 (retails over $600 + tax)

- Dura-Ace Front Derailleur - Model FD-7900 - 66 grams - $100 (retails at $115 + tax)

- DuraAce Rear Derailleur 20 speed - Model RD-7900 - 165 grams- $220 (retails at $250 + tax)

Submitted by PBarsoom on Thu, 07/14/2011 - 5:47pm

I am spending weekends in Southampton through end of September and would be interested in connecting with others who are cycling out there. Anyone interested in riding 60-80 miles on Saturday or Sunday? A pace.

Cheers,

Peter

Colorado Rocky Mountain Bicycle Tour - 2nd week of August

Submitted by ABussmann on Thu, 07/14/2011 - 11:41am

Is anyone from NYC going out to Colorado for the Colorado Rocky Mountain Bicycle Tour during the 2nd week of August?  www.crmbt.com.  If so, it would be nice to coordinate some training and perhaps travel logistics as well.

I did this tour in 2007 and it was a fantastic and well-supported experience.  Smaller and better supported, and at a better time of year, than the other week long Colorado tours in June.  Usually more interesting courses as well.
