Submitted by GYang on Sun, 10/30/2011 - 2:29pm

I am planning on riding three easy laps A-19ish starting at 5:45 AM from Engineer's Gate. Will swing by TOG at 6 AM to meet up with whoever wants to join there.

Send me an e-mail if you are interested or just show up but I won't wait for long at either site.

I thought I posted this ... but here are photos of Hillside Ave in Englewood - to get an idea of storm damage.

Street conditions in Englewood NJ - Oct 30

Submitted by dianegoodwin on Sun, 10/30/2011 - 12:03pm

Personally, I would not go riding through Englewood today ....

Last night I went outside ... walked up Palisade Ave, maybe one block, and it was scarey.
The trees around here are all hanging over into street due to ice/snow.
Here are some photos:

It never snowed in Piermont

except in the interior & hills.  My theory is that the river at this time of year is above freezing and this limited the precip to rain..  I expect all the roads here will be dry by noon.  At this time I cannot tell about the roads between NYC & here.

Pancake Ride

Todays (10/30/11) Pancake Ride has been canceled. Wet roads and bridge closure are not working in our favor.

New $35M Short Clove greatly improves awful 9W Haverstraw stretch

Submitted by JJacobson on Sat, 10/29/2011 - 1:52pm

Opened yesterday, the new road has 2 fly-over bridges to carry traffic  safely and smoothly  over the CSX railroad tracks as it connects Riverside Ave & 9W.It offers majestic riv vus.  I assume bicyling is permitted on it.

Hillary Clinton once called this "the most dangerous railroad crossing I've seen anywhere"  Tilcon's large quarry trucks and all other traffic often backed up on 9W whenever a train came and pretty much landlocked the village of Haverstraw.

I rode on 9W a few days ago which is greatly improved.  The project  cost $5,000,000 more than anticipated.

This will facilitate our riding through the Haverstraw and Stony Point Marina Districts and onto  Bear Mountain & West Point.
