Super thanks for your help after my crash on the 12th !

Submitted by JFinder on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 10:03pm

A thousand thanks to Derek, Jen and the other members on the  ride on the 12th who were so helpful and caring after my crash.

I got good medical care and now I'm at home recuperating.

NYCC people are the best people!  I'll see you all on the road in January!

Dear pink jerseyed rider on this site's carousel: your seat is too high

Submitted by RRosenthal on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 8:43pm

You're fourth from the left. You leg is damn near straight, maybe even straight, and you're not even at the bottom of your stroke. You want a slight bend in it at the bottom of your stroke.

Prospect Park to River Road - 1st time attempt; looking for ride partner

Submitted by aron on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 6:45pm

By my guestimate, I would put this at 60 miles r/t. I think I could manage a 12 mph average. Would anyone care to join me for a 8:30 depart  / 3:00 return? I would like to do this on Thursday, Nov 24th (Thanksgiving day)

Woodland St. now repaved

Submitted by CWaaser on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 6:30pm

They have finally completed work on N. Woodland St. south of Johnson in Englewood Cliffs.  You can now ride comfortably on Summit to Lyncrest to Woodland, or the return up Churchill to Woodland to Lyncrest to Summit (or up Walnut to Woodland to Pershing to Summit).  Now, if they would just repave the rest of Woodland....

Late season morning laps Tues - weather call

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 3:19pm

The weather forecast for tomorrow morning is kind of "iffy".

If it's raining at 5:30 AM - or the roads are wet - the ride's cancelled.

I hope it's not raining and the roads are dry!

Prospect Park Loop Road

Submitted by MBruckner on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 12:42pm

This is totally speculative, but it appears that the DOT is checking speeds at the bottom of the hill in Prospect Park right now. I assume that they are doing so in advance of this Wednesday's task force meeting on what to do with the loop road to ensure that it is safe for all users.

Perhaps everyone can exercise extra caution while they are monitoring us?

Now that the evening hours find CP sparsely populated...

What to do if your computer distance off from cue sheet

Submitted by nicku33 on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 1:12pm

I've been shopping around for a bike computer but they all seem to have something missing which seems very useful to me.

Oftem when following a cue sheet, a slight detour or perhaps miscalibration of wheel size can lead to a difference beteen distance recorded and the cue sheet total. It would be nice to be able to enter or adjust the distance travelled. Most computers I've seen can only reset to 0. While many have on odometer, the interntion si to record total distance ever travelled and it is often a hard setting to get to.

If a sheet is a lot of long legs then, you can just reset on each leg but many routes involve 0.5 0.6 0.2 mile segments so that's not always practical.

Thanks for riding with "the Next SIG"

Submitted by GeorgeArcarola on Sun, 11/13/2011 - 11:15am

My thanks to all those who took a ride with me to Nyack yesterday. In addition to myself, fifteen (15) other 2011 A-19 SIGlets and leaders, and a 2011 A-Classic leader came out and shepherded some thirty-eight (38) cyclists for a sixty mile ride on a gorgeous day.

I saw many tired but satisfied smiles as we rode back into Manhattan, and received a dozen e-mail notes, and several Facebook hits about how much fun it was.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you in March.

Cheers,

George
