Bike Supplies Around The Clock

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Thu, 07/05/2012 - 12:22pm

Most bicycle stores open around 10am, give or take an hour; most of them close by 7pm, a few sticking until 8pm. Those are the only stores that sell any bicycle-related supplies at all.

In particular, you could be in a lot of places in NYC during morning commuting hours or mid-evening hours, and you would have no recourse to fixing a flat unless you'd brought along a repair or replacement kit.

Would it be helpful to know of places that are open at odd hours - perhaps 24/7 - that have a limited selection of bicycle gear available in a pinch? Like, just a small shelf of tubes, foldable tires, small lube bottles, chamois cream, gel shots, etc?

A different take on cycling

Do you love cycling?  I thought so.  Ever thought about sharing it with other folks who never got the chance to learn?

No one ever forgets their very first time pedaling a two wheeler. Wind through their hair, freedom at their fingertips, and a new found independence are all theirs. It's an unforgettable experience!

Just when you think we've said it all about how much 2 people could give back to the club and it's members, they go ahead and do something like they did yesterday.

They basically opened their house to 50 or 60 cyclists, all looking to get away for a day in the country. Showers on 3 levels all had lines (towels were provided), every form of pizza imaginable was on hand, as were cold drinks and great company.

Oh yes, and they led a ride in heat approaching 100 degrees.

Many thanks guys. You're the best!!!!

Cold Spring Rides are ON!!

Submitted by CWaaser on Tue, 07/03/2012 - 9:45pm

You may have heard rumors of raindrops, but the weather gods are smiling on us.  Well, there may still be a raindrop or two, but there is no longer the potential for severe storms.  So the rides are on.  Bring your smiles and we'll make our own sunshine.  But seriously, it will be hot and, at times, sunny, so bring your sunscreen and lots of water.  And be prepared for a little flexibility in the rides as we all go with the flow.

Space available for July 4th in Cold Spring

Submitted by RonR on Tue, 07/03/2012 - 8:33pm

Someone please use my space on the train. Something came up that led me to change my plans and stay closer to home. So there is, at least at the moment I'm writing this, at least 1 spot available on the train. GO FOR IT!!

Sorry Christy. I'll have to catch you and Jody on another excursion.

Have a great ride up there and stay hydrated!!
