Tour de Brooklyn Leaving at 8am--Weather Permitting

Submitted by RWechsler on Sat, 10/27/2012 - 6:42pm

Given the slightly better forecast for the morning than the afternoon, we'll leave tomorrow at 8 am. If the roads are dry and we have an OK forecast for the morning, we'll head to Brooklyn and do an abreviated ride.  Check the message board tomorrow morning(!). I'll post an update by 7 am.

What is your best bike vacation?

Submitted by djloveb on Sat, 10/27/2012 - 12:33pm

I want to schedule another cycling vacation, but need to narrow the options.  I'm looking for input as to others' best cycling vacations - where they were, what company it was through, etc.  The whole wide world is an option, but I'm limited to a week or so of time.  Any advice would be appreciated!

East Coast Greenway to New Haven - POSTPONED TO 11/11

Submitted by NWeissman on Fri, 10/26/2012 - 9:52am

Fellow Cyclists,

Given the weather and the real possibility that there will be Metro North service interruptions effectively stranding us en route, the leaders have elected to cancel the Greenway Ride for this Sunday 10/28 and re-list it for Sunday 11/11.

If you signed up, please re-visit the ride listing and update your availability.

Sorry.  Thanks.

October 30 Morning Laps Ride Cancelled

Submitted by GRoss on Fri, 10/26/2012 - 7:16am

I have to cancel Tuesday's morning's B16 laps in Central Park ride. Either I will be out of town on business or the weather will be too awful to fly or ride a bike.

On the off chance the weather is rideable, Jim Olson may be able to take over and lead the ride. I have put him down as co-leader so he can have access to the sign-up list.

I have also listed the Tues/Thursday times for the month of November, except for Thanksgiving Day.

Taxi & Limousine Tribunal

Submitted by KJenkins on Fri, 10/26/2012 - 6:14am

The next time I'm riding my bike and a taxi endangers my safety I will call 311 and make a report.

I say this because not so long ago I was a pedestrian and a taxi almost hit me as I was crossing with the light and in the crosswalk @ 56th and 1st.

I made my call to 311.  Within 4 months I attended the hearing via telephone and the driver was found guilty on one of the three charges.  His penalty:  $400 and three points.

This is edited....please go to his facebook page for all of it.......

I want to tell the world of cycling to please join me in telling Pat McQuaid to resign. I have never seen such an abuse of power in cycling's history- resign Pat if you love cycling. Resign even if you hate the sport.
