Goodwill on the road
Today I rode alone, as I frequently do...a nice, easy recovery ride through Tenafly/Englewood. I was on 501 (Piermont Rd) coming home, stopped at a red light at Hudson (I think) when I got a short honk from the van to my left. The guy smiled and gave me a double thumbs up. I was confused...first, I thought he was complimenting my look (uh, trying to tell me I'm cute), and then I realized...he's actually praising me for stopping at the red light and WAITING till it turned to green. That felt good. Too many light busters out there (unsafe ones; I've been known to go when there's no one coming either way).
An interesting read on cycling safety in europe
Looking for a Comedienne Cyclist to Host a New Podcast Series
Hi there! I'm working on a new website for women who ride (launching this fall) and I'd love to create a podcast series where a funny female host interviews top experts who will answer embarrassing or hard-to-ask questions about women and cycling, like tips for riding on your period, preventing ingrown hairs and saddle sores, hitting on the hot cyclists who does loops at the same time as you, etc.
Help Needed: MFA research project | Need volunteers
Hello, hello,
I am currently enrolled in an MFA program at The School For Visual Arts called Design For Social Innovation. It's a new program (first graduating class was this year), and essentially it takes the processes and methodologies of design, but instead of creating a new logo, we try to come up with solutions to social problems.
You've got to love this
Just an hour and a half ago, running west (with traffic) on the bike path on 9th St at 1st Avenue, a cyclist rode by me. He shook his head, saying what I was doing was dangerous. I told him I do it all the time.
Last I saw him, he made a right turn on 2nd Avenue, salmoning into bike traffic on the bike path, heading north.
Shall we open a new thread for uncharged killer drivers?
Cannondale CAAD10
Does anyone ride one of these or know much about them? I can get one with Ultegra components on end of season sale for what seems like a steal. Should I be concerned about it being aluminum? Weight wise, it is comparable to most mid range carbon frames. Thanks for your help.
An invitation to Cycle Kids New York event
Hi NYCC members!
Anyone have a hardcase bike box for borrow or rent? Plus other bike-flying questions.
I'm going to be in Colorado from Oct 1 to Oct 13 and I thought it'd be a good opportunity to bag some high-altitude miles.
Does anybody have a hard case bike travel case that I can borrow or rent for those days?
Or... does anybody know how well bikes fly sans box? I've flown with a box before but I was thinking of just doing as the airline says, turn the handlebars and take off the pedals.
