R-STS #2 Ride Report - Golden's Bridge (with a Port Chester BBQ kicker)
Hooked up with Westchester Cycle Club to do a 30 mile loop up to Purdys. Westchester is hilly and this was as easy it gets. Three of us continued south along back roads through posh homes, horse farms and nature preserves. Finished in Port Chester for some well earned BBQ. 52 miles. 3200' climbing. Hit an early season wall, but some Shot Bloks, a lot of encouragement and the gravitational pull of BBQ got me through.

More Road Conditions Learned The Hard Way: the northern end of the Putnam Trail is still well iced over
We tried to ride the Putnam Trail out of Southeast and found it not-rideable thanks to 2 feet of remaining ice/snow, despite regional rain yesterday. (No, we didn't have fatbikes).
We went with a different ride plan to get to White Plains... point of this post, you really should wait for a significant upstate thaw before giving it a try.
Bonus: We went to the BBQ place! But they weren't open for another 30m, and we didn't wait. Cursed BBQ!
Sunday STS 19/20 Ride
If you have not already signed up for this ride, which was previously posted for Saturday, please do not. It's already full and there was a glitch in the re-listing. Sorry for any confusion.

C-SIG CLASSIFICATION RIDE
Several weather forecasts continue to say 100% chance of rain Saturday. We will therefore postpone the C-SIG classification ride to Sunday, March 15. However, because of the Half-Marathon, there is a change in both start time & starting location.
Start Time: 11:00 a.m.
If you are considering cycling in the Girona/Barcelona area, have I got a place for you . . . .
. . . I recently returned from a terrific week of cycling in the Spanish countryside. If this is on your bucket list you should look at GironaCycling @ Mas Pelegri. My hosts, Gareth & Fiona, run a great bike camp from their gorgeous farmhouse just outside of Girona, in Serinya. The Catalonian countryside is lovely in the foothlls of the Pyreenes, there are some killer climbs in the area (Els Angels, Rocacorba) the food and wine are great. Lots of pros train in the area, and I saw many teams on the road, all like me, taking advantage of the mild temps. And the week-long camp is quite reasonable. It was heaven . . .
NYC Bike Expo - May 15 & 16 Free and Open to the Public
This is a really fun event that I have attended in past years on the day before the NY Gran Fondo. This year all may attend, not just Fondo participants. I know my friend Paul Wood of Black Bear Adventures will be exhibiting, along w/ lots of the sponsors for the NY Gran Fondo (past years included Campy, bike manurfacturers, nutrition booths, clothing, etc.)
