C-sign group 3 or 4

Submitted by Tina M on Fri, 03/25/2016 - 8:17pm

Is anyone going through Penn Station to catch the subway to the C-sig ride that starts at the Dana Discovery Center? I'm a little nervous about riding the subway with my bike and it would be nice to meet someone and ride together. Thanks Tina M

Submitted by SGreenberg on Fri, 03/25/2016 - 11:08am

We've been advocating for this for a long time; a sign went up today that DOT will resurface the road (GAP to Park Circle) starting March 28, expected completion April 15.

Thanks to everyone who wrote, called and lobbied for this.

Quantifying the impact of PA's plan to accord all users a single 6.75' wide path between 2020 and 2023 on regional cycle tourism.

For March 26-27: Which side of the GWB is open?

Just trying to figure out for planning purposes for this weekend's rides. I never got a notice that the South Path was reopened (nor did we hear that there is a long-term construction project scheduled for the South Path)

CYCLE Kids

Submitted by NMermet on Tue, 03/22/2016 - 10:01pm
I am going to donate to an amazing cause.  CYCLE Kids is an organization which brings cycling to underprivileged children.  I am going to contribute to their current project, The Shakespeare School in the Bronx.  96% of the students are in the free lunch program and have limited access to extracurricular sports.  Most have never even ridden a bicycle.  This program promotes health, exercise, wellness, happiness, and CYCLING!!

The fundraising event is May 5th.  Even if you can not attend and/or donate, I know Raquel would greatly appreciate your sharing this event via social media to spread awareness.

Ticketing On River Road

Submitted by RSchmon on Tue, 03/22/2016 - 8:35pm

A few days ago I ran into a cyclist at the Alpine police station who told me that he and several others were ticketed for doing what I had just done: riding River Road.  He told me that the Park police officer ticketed them for riding between the closed gates at the bottom of the "forbidden climb" and the round-about prior to the Alpine ascent.  Since we were in the police station when he told me this, I immediately walked down the corridor and asked the officer on duty if it was legal to ride a bike on River Road between these closed gates, or not.  His reply was: (paraphrased): "When the gates are down, it means we are not maintaining that portion of River Road and you ride it at your own risk.
