East Side route to downtown?

Submitted by ty111 on Sun, 07/30/2017 - 4:47pm

I'm trying to figure out the best bike route from East 71st  to Village--East or West. There are horrible patches of 2nd Avenue that I'd like to avoid, namely 59th Street Bridge and MT Tunnel entrance.

Or, should I just cut through CP and go down West Side?

Thanks

Tickets never expire! Something for Metro North to adopt.

Senior fare starts at 62. Another thing for Metro North to consider.

The conductors are very friendly (but so are Metro North’s.)

From the Board: Who are our Elders?

Fellow Members,

At our most recent meeting, the Board discussed how to honor those who have been our members over the long haul. These members may or may not be Lifetime Members, but they have provided support to the Club for many years, and we feel that that deserves some sort of recognition. Unfortunately, the state of our membership records doesn't allow us to simply look this up.

To that end, if you have been (or know of someone who has been) a member for at least 25 years, please provide details to me at [email protected].  We're looking for 25 consecutive years, but small gaps of a few months and MAYBE even a year can be overlooked, so long as membership hasn't been an on-and-off thing. You get the idea.

Please bring a light rain jacket just in case.  And arm warmers.

The weather

"Everybody talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it."

This or something similar has been attributed to Mark Twain, who used to live down my block. Those were the days.

Somewhat of a weather nerd, I'm flummoxed with tomorrow's forecast. And have been since Monday. Has it gone for any 12 hour period where it does not contradict the prior 12 hours?

Whatever, unless tomorrow is raining the sort of arrows that devastated the French at Agincourt, I'm going to sally forth. And more than likely get soaked.

Oldsmobile used to have a model named the "88." Olds 88. To talk with Kaplan is to get the idea that 88 is not old.
