This won't be one of our usual SI climb-a-thons. The focus for this abbreviated ride will be to get everyone in the group successfully up Oakland Terrace. For those that have previously conquered this little gem you know it's not as easy as it sounds. We'll meet at 8:15AM outside the Whitehall Ferry terminal in Lower Manhattan and catch the 8:30AM ferry to SI. If all goes well we should be able to catch the 11:30AM ferry back from St. George. That will give us plenty of time to be home for the start of the J-E-T-S game. This will be probably be our last chance to get over to SI this year before the weather turns so you don't want to miss this opportunity to earn your SI Merit Badge. There won't be a planned deli stop so please bring pocket food, 2 water bottles, 2 spare tubes and a bike in good working condition.

group rating for this ride

I am curious how fast a speed I need to be abale to maintain to join this ride without getting dropped.

Am I good at B18/19?

18/19 On The Flats

No hammer fest. Just a quick ride to introduce people to SI and to get as many people as possible up Oakland Terrace. Last one up buys the beer on the ferry ride back to Manhattan. :-)

Kudos

Many thanks to Matt and Leese for leading a great ride up and over Oakland Terrace.
I earned my merit badge, wasn't the last "male" up the hill (issue for discussion), and the Jets won! A great Sunday.
As a reminder, I'm owed a brew. Cherry Wheat Samuel Adams please!

Beer, Beer Glorious Beer

Who owes you a beer Edwin? Did I make that promise?

The problem with only riding 30 miles on SI is that it's tough to justify having a beer on the 11:30 ferry ride home. :-)

Have a happy Thanksgiving.

ENY Century Group Alumni?

Hey Matt-

I'm not sure, but it seems quite possible that I rode in your group for a good bit of the Escape NY Century, if you and your lady were both representing Staten Island Cycling Club via your jerseys. I was riding a blue Kona Jake the Snake, and believe I was riding with you guys from about mile 50-80 or so.

If you get any further rides (Especially Climb-a-thons) in Staten Island together- in good to half-decent weather (or bad), please let me know! I have yet to spend any time on a bike over there, and it looks nice! It would be awesome to have an in-the-know-guide.

If you aren't leading any rides for the duration of the season, do you have a cue sheet you might share that will challenge my heart, lungs, and legs?

Thanks for your time!
Cheers!

Best regards-
