If it's true, as it seems to be, that this new system does not permit anonymous postings, that will be a great improvement to the Message Board.  However, it seems that there are currently a significant number of deficiencies, in both content and implementation, that need to be fixed in this new site.  Reverting to the original site while updates are made might not be a bad idea.

No anonymous posting, but it

No anonymous posting, but it seems to be a lot easier for spammers to get in.  I naver saw any spam threads in the old board, yet I have already seen 2 of them on the very first day of this new one.  Personally I much rather allow people to post anonymous than to see ads for electronics from China or Viagra.

Is spammability a word?

I suspect spammability has more to do with search engine presence than anything else. Captcha, anyone?

Anonymous posting is allowed...

Just look at the amount of spam coming in.  It's very easy to post anonymously: just use an anonymous e-mail account (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.), and a false name and address.  I never posted anonymously on the old message board, but I had no problem with anonymous posts.  If they were hostile or defamatory, they could be deleted by a moderator (who will now instead be deleting spam).

Anonymous posts

I never had any problem with anonymous posts and am in fact sorry to see them eliminated.

Yes there were some nasty trolls but those posts were generally deleted or the trolls outed.

I think that some people will be afraid to express their own legitimate opinion under their own name if it is counter to the mainstream.
Also there are certain topics, like women's issues regarding saddle comfort, that people do not necessarily want to post under their name.  Now there is no forum for such topics.

Frankly some anonymous posters were just quite amusing.
I am afraid that this change makes the message board more generic in content as well as in look.
...au revoir Etaoin Shrdlu who ever you are...
