Given the relatively cold, but dry weather, I thought a mountain bike ride to be just the thing. Thing is that the usual mountain bike leader (Carl) is unavailable and I have never gone on one of his rides.

Anyone want to take the initiative?

There is a good chance I am going to ride at Stiwell Woods this weekend. Most likely Sat around 10/10:30 ish. I rode last weekend for about 3.5 - 4 hours and plan to ride the same distance (4 laps, plus the trail in & out from Jericho). I would love to ride with someone so anyone is welcome to join up.

stillwell

Love Stillwell. lots of fun: you don't mind doing a few laps.
I suggest anyone going by train should go to Cold Spring Harbor station, since you can access the trails right off Stillwell Lane (left off Rte 108, then left on the Greenbelt Trail, which shortly gets you to the Stillwell loop), and is less than a mile from the station.

Do either of you have a car, or will you be traveling by train?

If you two email me (or anyone else who wants to join) ckohler AT earthlink DOT net, we can coordinate (Mark your email because it will be blocked by my spam filter).

I know how to get in from the the parking lot, but a little unfamiliar from the train. Carl & I tried it over the winter & got a bit lost, but then figured it out.

I was thinking of riding around 10-10:30ish, but if you guys are coming by train that may dicate it a bit more.
