Has anyone been out this week to do laps? Is the work really going on?

I'm thinking of riding from Engineers' Gate to 110th St., leaving the Park at 110th and taking 110th to Central Park West and re-entering the Park at 72 Street. Does that sound workable? (Annoying, yes, but workable?)

I rode laps this morning. The only work on the roadway thus far is on the hill at the North end of the park - about 1/3 of it is pretty chewed up. Though the road surface was rough, it was passable. One option might be to do a regular lap and just take the 110th Street cut off - that would have been absollutely fine this morning. But tomorrow, who knows? It's anyone's guess. Weather permitting, I'm going to give it a try tomorrow AM. Stay tuned.

Central Park Repaving

I rode Tuesday night. The only part that was chewed up was the hill after the 110th St. exit. So if you exist the park there, and reenter at 72nd St. you should be all right. But that was Tuesday night.

By the way, I didn't know that that hill was called Great Hill. People that live in really hilly places must think that's pretty funny.

updated conditions

As of this morning at 6:00 AM, it was a pretty smooth ride around the entire loop of the park. One lane of the section of the North Hill that had been chewed up has been repaved - very nice! It gets a little conjested; runners, cyclists, rollerbladers, etc., all in that one lane - but I'm sooooooooo slow climbing that hill anyway, the conjestion is not really a problem. All you fast people, however, should exercise caution. The 5 mile option - taking the 110th St. cut off - is still available. Doing that avoids all of the work done on the roadway thus far. To be continued. . . .

Update 4-5-07 9:00 p.m.

Whole park is rideable H. hill has lane newly paved the rest of the park hasn't been scraped or paved yet. The 2 week estimate seems ambitious to me... anyway ride away until otherwise informed.

are they finished?

Does anyone know what the plan for repaving is?

Did they just decide to do the hill and skip the rest of the west side?
