Im a A level cyclist from San Francisco - and I am going to be in Manhattan April through July. Looking to join in on some group rides so i can stay in shape while in the big city. Any suggestions/resources i should check out?

You have many. There are early laps in Central Park most mornings meeting at Tavern on the Green at 6:00 am. There are often laps after work as well, beginning around 7:00 when the cars clear out. I find these evening laps to be a bit dicely esp. as the weather warms, since there are many non-cyclists who are interested in using the park as well. There are club rides going out every weekend in April and at least the first half of May listed as STS (Spring Training Series). There is an A+ STS23 that features fast tight pace lines, along with a lot of climbing. There is also an STS 19/21 that is a bit more moderate. The numbers indicate the projected speed on the flats, but the faster group often exceeds 23 mph on the flats. Both groups go through beautiful areas, typically north of NYC. The rides often involve a train ride one or both ways. There are also pick up rides posted on the message board during the week that go across the GW bridge into New Jersey and Rockland county, as well as other non-STS weekend rides that are listed. Hopefully, that will get you started.
