This advisory just in from T.A.:

Finally, the Central Park Loop Drive is being repaved! It will be done in two main phases:

Starting on Sunday, April 1 at Adam Clayton Powell, then working south, down the west drive. It will be done in stages between Sunday evening and Friday early morning, so the drives will be open for use on the weekend

Then again the next week, same story for the east drive.

Best,
Noah

Where are the details published?

Where are the details of the repaving published? There is nothing on the Trans Alt website nor the Central Park Conservancy site.

Does this mean only part of the west side is being repaved or will there be several more weeks of the park being closed on weekdays to do the entire drive?

The French do it right

A few years back, I was driving around France and came across a few road repaving crews. They used a machine that milled a lane at a time, cleaned out the milled lane and laid down the fresh asphalt immediately. It was a wonder to watch. At the end of each workday, there wasn't a milled patch of road to be found.

NYC

I have been told that the city uses two different contractors to mill and pave. The one needs to finish before they tell the other to show up.
At least that was the explaination when a section of 34th street was unpaved for weeks a couple of years ago.

As does Jersey

They use the same process when repaving sections of the Garden State Parkway.

Smart SOB's.

As of today (3/27), it's marked from 110 to 72.

The milling is marked to begin just after the drive exit by the Harlem Meer (after the swimming pool/rink) and to end exactly at the 72nd St. exit on the west side.

That means it includes the climb up Great Hill at 110th Street. It doesn't indicate anything as to whether they will later do the south loop (w72 around to e72) which also badly needs resurfacing. As to the rest of the east drive, it's in pretty good shape compared to the west drive, so I would be surprised if resurfacing that is on the agenda.
