Rooms are filling up fast for Memorial Day Weekend at Big Meadow.

Anyone interested should call 1-800-778-2851; don't use the website as it incorrectly shows everything booked.

The agenda:

Saturday, May 26: Big Meadow to Front Royal gate and back; 105 miles, 12500 vertical feet of climbing.
Sunday, May 27: Big Meadow to Waynesboro gate and back; 105 miles, 11500 vertical feet of climbing.

Did you see yourself on TV during the Landis discussion at the Brooklyn Brewery. That was you with the baseball cap wasn't it?

Herb;

I heard about it but I did not see the show. Paul Spraos is also in it. Ron is going to burn-it on a DVD for us.

Now I see why John and Paul were in the footage: Later on Paul asks his question to Floyd whether he can look him in the eye and declare his innocence. And just as Paul had predicted, it was good press for Floyd.

The fact that both Paul and John were framed together leads me to believe that the person shooting the video was following the dialogue but had no idea what was to be edited in or out. As both Paul and John had asked stunning questions, framing them together made sense.

Floyd Landis Segment on VS for Stage 1 of Tour of CA

Thanks to Hank, I now understand why the 2 of them were framed together as they were. The way the piece was edited, the question - unattributed, as the speaker was not shown at the time - asked by Paul came after the quick shot of John and Paul. Unfortunately, they chose not to broadcast John's question.
PS - when you watch the video, note Floyd's facial expressions as Paul's question is unfolding.

Interesting that you mention Floyd's expression Ron. Steve Weiss was sitting right next to these 2 and had mentioned that Floyd had looked uneasy at John's question. His expression to Paul's question looked like a double take.

Dire situtations require hard questions. The public reacts as much to emotion as to rationality.

John, This is a gorgeous ride; I just did it in November. One correction, if I may. As I recall, it is 105 miles from Front Royal to Waynesboro; so it's only half that from Big Meadow to Front Royal; ditto south to Waynesboro. Also, I know a great guy down there who will sag people, if need be.

Marcia,
John did say Big Meadow to Front Royal AND BACK. etc.

That said, I must agree that this is a great ride and one I have looked forward to doing again all year.

on my knees

Ron,
Yes, he did.
The good news is I don't drink and ride.

Marcia;

Thanks for the offer but as Ron stated we do out and backs from Big Meadows, so we don't need a sag.

oops

Sorry John! I realized my dumb mistake after I posted.
That's a lot of riding: 7-8 hours per, no?

Hard to say. It depends upon weather, group size and fitness level. A good size group working together could cover the 105 miles surprisingly fast, as the climbs are not steep.

I will say this, when the weather is very hot and humid, this is not an easy ride.
