Should be noted that the organizers of tonight's roller races have decided to donate their proceeds toward the care of Fernando Cuevas, a man who's a NYC cycling institution -- mentor, sponsor of a junior racing team, custom frame builder. He's been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and is currently on dialysis.

Wow, what a great time. It was fun to watch the racers compete, and then who showed up but Floyd Landis! Whatever you want to believe about did-he-or-didn't-he, it was very cool to have the Tour de France winner hanging out with us at this little dive bar.

Thanks to Mordecai for posting the event on the board!

Another fun roller racing event

"Results and some photos are here. The picture at the top of the page is an interview of the winner, Gui Nelessen, by Floyd something-or-other -- I didn't catch his full name.

J.P. Partland announced that there will be another event this winter, put on by Kissena, on February 28th, at Union Pool (Union Ave & N. 8th St) in Williamsburg."
