>Given that some athletes will take almost anything to gain a one percent edge in performance, what might they do for a 100 percent improvement? That temptation is made somewhat more real by a report today in a leading journal about a drug that doubles the physical endurance of mice running on treadmills. And it could only be more tempting, because the drug in question has also been reported to extend the lifespan of mice.<

Resveratrol is found in red wine...

I don't know about you guys, but I have a lovely Barolo that I will be swigging on my next club ride...

I would also like to nominate myself as the club's first sommelier...

Too bad ...

you would need to consume from 750 to 1500 bottles of red wine A DAY to equal the amounts the mice took, and possibly to reap any of the reported performance/life enhancing benefits. Not sure if the effetcs are cumulative (like, would 750 bottles a year do the trick?) but I doubt it. I guess we'll have to wait for the pill version (which will no doubt cost as much as 750 bottles of wine).
I'll stick with red stuff.

not that much

Based on my calcs, you only need to drink 250 bottle a day. The NYTimes says the pills already exist.
Take one down, pass it around, 249 bottles of wine on the wall.
