What a fantastic ride today! I know the volunteers can't take credit for the weather (or can they?), but they can take credit for unusually good food and smoothe coordination. Fantastic ride, great job. Thank you!

Huge shout-out to the organizers. Man, how good were the food stops? Great choices, and great quantities. I didn't touch the stuff I brought from home!

Thanks so much for a really fantastic job. Can't wait for next year!

Great Day! How 'bout Next Year?

Today was a winner. Thanks to Susi, Katie, Mark, Grace, and all the rest of the ENY Committee (Susi, you should post the names of the full committee). Also thanks to all the volunteers. While we were staying warm cycling, the folks running the rest stops were shivering a bit, at least early in the day.

But now is not too soon to think about next year. Susi and Katie had a tough time recruiting enough volunteers to get the job done. A new committee will have to be formed by January or February of '07 to plan next year. Will you step forward? Yes, it's work, but it's also lots of fun and it gives you an opportunity to meet folks and make new friends.

Thank you, thank you

Many thanks to the ENY committee and its volunteers for putting on such a pleasurable event. Susi, Katie, Grace, Mark, Tonya, Reggie, Bill, Annaline, Robert, Ian, Chuck, Timothy, Gerald, Carol, and Sal are a few names that come immediately to mind (I'm sure I missed a few) that I had benefited directly by their helping ENY hand.

I'd also like to thank the folks who pulled a few strings to get the GWB south pathway open in time for the return to the city. Couple that with the tailwind on the bridge and the Red Bull pick-me-up at the last rest stop, it made for a superbly nice way to finish off a challenging century ride.

Many Thanks!

As a new member of the club, I was totally blown away by the communal spirit of all the riders, the great volunteers, and excellent ride guides (thanks again to Tim for selflessly helping me fix a flat- in record time!). I had a great time and look forward to more rides with the club.
Many thanks!
Ashley

Thanks

Let me echo all the thanks to the organisers, and to the leaders of the A20 ride. It was my first century, and I really enjoyed it.

ENY dream team

The only way this event happened was through the dedication and hard work of all the volunteers.

I would have liked to have said thank you to each and every one of you, I'm sure there were people I missed thanking yesterday. Please know that we (and the club) really appreciate you skipping a beautiful riding day in order to help out.

I would like to say a special thank you to the planning crew;

Jonathan who was the master route scouter and responsible for giving the riders the two return options on the cue sheets, if it was up to me I would have just sent you the hilly way! Thanks Jonathon!

Grace who through hard work and determination produced one of the two HUGE donations plus the coffee at the begining. Thanks Grace!

Marcella, who's efforts produced the other HUGE donation and headed up the food at Sakura. This woman knows how to throw a party! Thanks Marcella!

And finally Susi..... This is Susi's second year as chair of ENY and she is truly the reason this year's event went off without a hitch. You might have heard from me the most but that's only because Susi was busy doing all the work! THANKS Susi!

For me, the best part of this year's ENY are the friends I made. Thank you for making yesterday a TON of fun.

angel at starbucks

"Our coffee was supplied by Starbucks on Broadway between 110th and 111th. The store manager, Angel Santiago, was very enthusiastic to support us. Being a cyclist himself, he knows NYCC and ENY. I didn't have to convince him and there was none of the ""I'll have to check with my Regional Manager"" stuff. He just asked about our ride - how many, when - and decided right then. Reflects well on him and on Starbucks too. So if you happen to be in his area, say, enroute to Riverside Drive, maybe drop by?"

Huge Thank You...

I also want to add my Huge THANK YOU to everyone involve in ENY. This ride was very well organized and it had that special immeasurable extra. The warmness (even in the cold morning) and closeness from everyone just made this the Best event I've participated in.

ENY discounts

For those of you who may have not read the literature in the swag bag, missed the announcements and the demo, there were two discounts negotiated for the ENY participants and volunteers:

DiNotte Lighting systems - Give Robert a call and let him know that you did ENY and he will work with you on your lighting needs. The lights are impressive, very bright, lightweight and burn a long time on the batteries. The rear light is the brightest out there and great for NYC traffic. They are also legal for PBP.
www.dinottelighting.com or if you want the discount prices and list, contact me at [email protected]

Powercranks - Great training tool to become a stronger biker, some of you tried it on the bike and were laughing at how it shows you how bad your pedal stroke is. If you are interested contact me at [email protected] and I can give you the information about the discount.

Thanks and congratulation to Katie, Susi and all the volunteers for putting on a great event.

Question about the course

Does anybody know how many vertical feet of climbing were in the full century ride?

Just over 6,500 according to my GPS, although that includes two crossings of the Queensboro bridge and a full lap of Central Park.
