Got invited to go mountin biking next weekend, but I don't have a mountain bike. Anyone know of a place up in the Bear Mountain area there that rents them? Tried googling, but no luck.

Don't know specifically. When I go on a business trip and want to rent in an area, I consult the following:

Just click on the rental button.
It refers to Bicycle Habitat in the village, which might rent them (you can then take it up by car or train).

I am from that area and off hand I am not aware of any bike shops anywhere close to that area.
