Is Whiteface nine Alpine hill repeats from the docks or from the main road?
Also, if Whiteface has an avg gradient of 8.5%, what is Alpine's gradient (inclusive or exclusive of docks to road)?

"...but still one heck of a climb. alpine is 1.07 mi @ 7.1% and whiteface is 8 mi @ 8.3%.

Ron, take a look @ the club's Regional Hill Climbs - go to Resources - on the website. (This is my fave part of our websiter, btw, excellently compiled by Hank S.) It seems to me if you want to add the Ross Dock portion of the climb to the River Road to Alpine climb, you would need to add 1/4 mile and 115 feet, a steep 8.7% gradient.
"If you wade through all the trash talk, this current thread will tell you how fast local racers do the River Road climb:

I would like to see someone do it under 5 minutes to the flagpole. Under 6 is pretty outrageous.
To finish in the front group of the Cat 4rs you will have to be able to go well under 6. I did 5.5 and I barley hung on last year... Will Riff does multiple (3-4) 5 minute climbs.
Yes, but Will Riffelmacher is a very talented cat. 2 racer.
