Leaders: Jeff Terosky and Kim Jenkins
From: Central Park Boathouse - 6:00am with a 6:02am departure

Are you tired when you go into work in the morning? Ever catch yourself looking for that extra cup of coffee at 10am? Well this week you'll at least have an excuse to be dragging! Come and ride with us to top off your conditioning before the Escape New York weekend and other late-season events... we'll do River Road every day for a week!
Departure from the boathouse promptly at 6:02, through Columbia to Riverside and over the GWB, under the GWB in the early dawn light to the Alpine police station, a quick paceline return on 9W to the GWB, and down the west side by 8:15. If all goes well we'll be at work by 9:00, leg muscles bulging.
Occasionally we may switch it up and do River Road both ways. FIVE DAY PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A SPECIAL PRIZE! Join us!!!

Weather Report

I think we're going to be just fine, but we'll post here by 5:00am the day of the ride if the weather is at all questionable. In the meantime, recruit some friends and join us!

Well, what a fab way to start the week. A beautiful morning and a fine ride. I was back in my apartment and in the shower by 8.30. Made work by 9.00

Tuesday

Monday morning was fantastic - I can't believe how nice it was with the sun coming up over the Cloisters! We had eight in the group and I was back at Columbus Circle by 8:15am.
Come on out on Tuesday - we're expecting gorgeous conditions yet again - 58 degrees and clear at 6:00am... Tuesday we depart the boathouse at 6:04am - should make the NJ side of the GWB between 6:30 and 6:40.

I hear you. Making the 6 a.m. start is harder than the ride itself.
Another beautiful morning, another great ride.
See you tomorrow Jeff.

A Week of River Road

These early River Road rides are such an excellent idea. Thank you Kim and Jeff. Great pace again today. Was home (Lincoln Center area)by 8:30 am even though I slogged against headwinds on the greenway - traffic was tight on RSD. Looks like Ron and/or Kevin are getting the five-day prize. Go guys! I hope you both win. I'll miss you all tomorrow, but hope to see you Thursday.

Super morning!

Jeff & Terry,
Thanks for another GREAT morning! I especially enjoyed that big red ball of sun rising as we climbed to Alpine.
Question: What happens tomorrow if it's raining? I'm hoping to see you again tomorrow and/or Friday.
Thanks,
Rob

What if it's raining?

The outlook for Thursday is bleak. If it's raining or even if the roads are especially wet at 5:00am, we're not riding. I'll try to post on the message board at 05:00-05:15 to save you the trip to the boathouse. If you have not heard feel free to call. Think moon!

Warm and wet or dry and windy

Hi Jeff - I had a really great day Tuesday because, I presume, of the great ride that started the day. So I'd like to do ride even if it is a little wet. I understand you may need to cancel but I thought I'd give a heads up to anyone else that may want to join me that I may be out there doing this. If it is pouring at 5:30, I won't ride. If there is only light rain or wet roads, I will.

I'll post here Thursday at 5:30 am with the verdict.

go for it

Chris, sounds good to me. It looks like the roads are beginning to dry and that liklihood of more rain is 50% in the next two hours.
I am out for the day, but if you guys want to go for it, it's fine by me - you know the route!

Let us depart from the boathouse at 6:04 am.

Conditions turned out fine - even the wind was not as bad as forecast.
Caught a flat on the Greenway on my return. Not tacks, just plain old glass.

sunrise and no rain

Going up River Road, seeing the sun to your right behind the leaves breaking out through dark clouds, waterfalls gushing on your left, flush with last night's rain, what could be better? How about going back down River Road and seeing it in reverse! And how about more weeks of River Road?

Sounds good to me

I took River Rd. back and it was pretty nice. Let us do this tomorrow.

As for the ride, I am up for doing this regularly - maybe not 5 days a week, but 2 or 3.

I took the Greenway home and got no flats, although an unleashed dog darted from behind a bush and almost took me out around 110th. Three of us took the greenway Tuesday and did not get flats. So obviously there is a problem there, but it is not like the paths were carpet-tack bombed.

early rides

Now that I've got a road bike again, I may join you tomorrow and future am rides. I'll just head to work in NJ afterward.

The best way to start the day

So glad you had a nice ride too. It's one of the best ways to start the day. If 2-3 days a week are in the cards, I hope one of them is Thursday, when I'm freest. Looking forward to seeing you all on the road!

Great ride this morning

I finally made it on the last day. What a great way to start a Friday. A nice ride up River Road and a brisk paceline home on 9W, and at my desk by 8:40.

Three of us came back down the greenway, and again, no flats.

What fun

Thank you all for a challenging and rewarding week. Both the ride and the sunrises were great. But I'll admit to looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow... Hope to see everyone at Escape NY.

thanks

I appreciate all the time and 'Effort' that you all put in this week: Jeff, Jeff, Paul, Ron, Kevin, Chris, Rob, Grace, Dave, Carl; Kim in absentia - it was partly her idea ( I hope everything works out) and whoever I forgot, because I can't see that well in the dark at 6:30 in the 'morn, or remember 'cause it was a wee bit early to be fully functioning, and if this is a bit of a run-on sentence, it's because that's how the week flew by.
