I was riding around the park at midday, and saw the podium and potentates. Had I only known what was going on, I surely would have stopped to listen!

city announces bicycle safety improvements
Cutting locks and confiscating bikes does not a cycling-friendly city make. More places to park and lock, more pressure on building managements to allow bikes inside, etc etc etc.
Didn't see a word about that.
"From TA Exec.Dir. Paul Steely White:
""Copious outdoor bike parking is part of their 'action
plan' that is tacked on to the end of the report. And we are in deep
discussions now with DOT top brass about how to convert select
vehicular parking spaces into bike/moped/motorcycle spaces, as they have in many European cities.""
"
TA just sent out an email regarding this. The full report that resulted from the study of bicycle fatalities in NYC from 1996-2005 can be accessed from the press release.
