bitten

My wife was bitten by an unleashed dog in Central Park near the great lawn. Because of the inconsiderate owner who didn't leash or control the dog she was forced to undergo an extremely painfull series of rabies shots since she could not identify the dog. I am still furious that the dog is still enjoying it's luxurious life wile my wife had to suffer. I am a NYCC member and I could see how this could affect cyclists.

It's not too late to file a report with the police. Also, by law, doctors are required to file a dog bite report with the Department of Health. Find out if your doctor followed through with the paperwork. Next time you're in the park make sure that you have a camera with you. If you see the dog and owner take a photo or two.

It's a shame that the off-leash fringe lunatics are giving a bad rep to all dog owners. Most dog owners I know are intelligent enough to realize that unleashing ones dog in an unenclosed public area in the country's most densely populated city is just asking for trouble.
