Looking at getting a new tri/multisport bike sometime soon-ish. The two area shops that I seem to come across the most are SBR and R&A. Can anyone offer any insight into which might be a better place for a fitting? Are there any shops I'm missing? Altheus?

Thanks!

Thanks Kay! I'm pretty impressed after reading through the fit section on their site. That's one thing I'd noticed was a lack of fit information on either SBR or R&A's websites. SBR says nothing about fit and R&A asks you to bring them a set of measurements. Somehow that just seems backwards to me.

Signature Cycles

As above. The most experienced fitter in NYC.

JackRabbit seems to be getting good reviews too. Jack Rabbit and SBR use the same technique, FIST (though I think JR places an emphasis on weight distribution, which would bump them up on my list). But Signature is where I went and I couldn't be happier.

Signature fitting

"The Signature fitting process was really fun. I was fit to an old bike as well a new custom bike, and I also couldn't be happier. I really loved the Computrainer Spin Scan Analysis. Watching the power output change as we made adjustments was remarkable. Here's an article I found on bike fitting and the Spin Scan...

SBR vs. R&A vs. ? (tri bike fitting)

SBR did a fantastic job for me and two of my friends. Each of us has an assortment of chronic injuries and Christophe was able to work around it for us, and balance that with aero and flexibility. I've used many others that couldn't even come close.

Check out Jon Cane at City Coach ([email protected] ) He is a tri athlete, and a coach of many of them. He has all sorts of computerized equipment to view what really happens when you pedal. I found him very patient and knowledgeable about the physiology of biking. He works with R&A and I believe can get you a discount.

Can anyone share what their fittings cost. I'll certainly give each place a call when I have second, but I'm just curious what I can expect this to run.

SBR fitting

I think the fits at SBR are really good. Christophe is an experienced cyclist and triathlete and takes that into consideration when he's fitting you as well as any chronic pain or injuries.

He fit me on my road and tri bike and they are very comfortable.
