I'm looking to get a steel frame re-finished. Is there anyone who does this locally? Auto body shop? Bike shop?

Google searches don't turn up much locally, so I'd appreciate a recommendation, or pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Rich

some long shots

I have never had any of these companies do bicycle-related work, and to be honest I'm not even sure they specifically do powder-coating and/or sandblasting...but I have used them over the past few years to do custom metal fabrication and finishing, so it's entirely possible they might be able to help you (or point you towards a more appropriate vendor).

Electro-Kinetics Inc. 845-887-4930

like I said, they're long shots, but...

NYC bikes

Ask Will at NYC bikes. I believe he has a local powdercoater. Inexpensive - maybe $15 - but the quality might not be first rate. You may have to wait until he's ready to have a batch of frames coated, too. This is second-hand information. But check with NYC Bikes anyway.

Powder coating

"I saved a copy of an ad that appeared on CL early in the year. It was under the ""bike"" section. Removal of the old finish and a single stage color.$100.

I've had a lot of stuff done at Colorlife in Hicksville and have a lot still to be done there. So far I received back from stems, a frame and two forks. All the work was outstanding and the prices are reasonable. The price I was quoted to strip and powdercoat a frame and fork was under $100.
