There is a NYRRC Womens 10K race in the morning. Does this mean the park is closed to Cyclists?

Thanks

From NYRR's Web site....
10K: Start on Central Park West at West 61st Street. Head north, bearing right to enter the park at West 90th Street. Once inside Central Park, please move into the recreation lane, inside the painted double white line. Continue clockwise around the park to the finish adjacent to Tavern on the Green (West Drive at 67th Street). [Download PDF Map]

2.6–mile Friends Walk (coed): Start on Central Park West at West 61st Street. Turn right into Central Park at West 72nd Street and continue along the 72nd Street Transverse to East Drive. Turn right/south onto East Drive and continue around the park to the finish adjacent to Tavern on the Green (West Drive at 67th Street). NYRR Healthwalking program director Lon Wilson will lead walkers through the course. All levels and abilities welcome. [Download PDF Map]

Note: The course will have water stations, music, and full medical support. When in Central Park, please be considerate of other park users; share the road by staying in the innermost recreation lane.

Race start at marathon finish, then...

"8:45 a.m. Opening Ceremonies at start line (West Drive & 61st St)
9:00 a.m. Official start of Circle of Friends New York Mini 10K
(women 12 years and older)

Last year this race had 3598 runners.

NYRR does keep outside lanes open for other park users. However, when the middle of the pack go by the Boathouse access to it might be difficult. My guess it that will happen between 9:45 and 10:15.

You're welcome.

Generally the park remains open for other recreation use during these times but it gets crowded, so it definitely is not the best time to ride in the park.

I admire the correctness of these responses.

Officially the park needs to be open to all uses, including cycling, during this event.

And it damm well should.

In the real world, however, there is simply no way you'll be able to ride your bike there at the same time than the 10K. Period.

Definitely the stage of the week, but not quite a vintage day’s racing in the Dauphiné – so ""bring back Lance Armstrong"" someone even suggested
