I just read about the below website on another cycling forum. It lets you use google maps to create a route using way points. Once you create the route, you can email the URL to your friends so they can view it. You can also import it into a Garmin. I just ordered the Edge 305. I can't wait to try it. The first URL below is the where you create routes, and the 2nd URL is the route I created for the Sergeantsville ride I'm leading on 5/28. Zoom out a little bit to get a good look at the route.

Anybody else have any good tips for software that will let you import routes into the Garmin?
