I'm fairly new to the city and do not know where to find technical single track. Are there any bikers here who regularly go mountain biking?

not much; here's some breadcrumbs

Caveat: I don't do MTB. I'm sure someone else will chime in with additional comments. That will not stop me...

I'm not certain if mountain biking is truly allowed, or if they do, it's seasonal, etc. but a couple of places are:

Fahnestock State Park in Cold Spring, NY or Ringwood State park in Ringwood, NJ. The former you can take Metro North train, while the latter you need to drive to get there.

Last and most notably, there's the Wednesday night Urban Adventure club ride. That weekly ride is a technical single track of the urban-landscape variety.

Stacy, do you need transportation or do you have a car?
Where to ride depends upon the above.

For now I don't have a car so I need transportation. It would be nice to find a few people to ride with if that's possible. I bought a road bike when I moved here but it's just not the same. ;(

See wmba.org and visionmtb.com. Lots of riding locally, accessible by LIRR or Metro North.

Club MtB ride - June 17

I am leading a mountain bike ride to Graham Hills in Westchester County on June 17. This is a small place with very nice single track for the intermediate to expert. You will need a bicycle permit for the Metro North train - these are only $5 and last a lifetime.
