After reading folks here lament about the Only Lance Network (OLN), I'm surprised, or maybe I shouldn't be, that nary a word has been uttered here about the recent accomplishment of Floyd Landis.
While it's not the TdF, the Paris-Nice tour is quite a prestigious pro race and it was won by none other than an American named Floyd Landis.
Phil Liggett was missed, but the OLN coverage was outstanding. Sunday's race coverage was pure eye candy. How can one go wrong with the beauty of Nice and the Mediterrean in the back drop. Too bad the broadcast was not in HD.
Anyway, this Sunday evening, OLN will provide coverage of Milan-San Remo. Another American, George Hincapie has a fighting chance of winning.
f-l-o-y-d!
Aw, come on Peter - Floyd is all-hyped up on high-fructiose corn syrup! Who cares, mi amigo?
Evidently you do by chiming in an offering some comments on something you are familiar with - the distinction with accusing someone being on dope versus being a dope.
Peter;
I have been a fan of Floyd's over the last several years. I was about to post a similar thread but you beat me to it! Unfortunately, I missed the show. Did you record it?
"Sorry, I didn't, but I will check to see if it's available in Comcast's ""On Demand"" menu. If so, I'll tape it. (I see tivo in my future) Either way I'll let you know offline.
While Landis was just defending his lead, watching the time gap, Sunday's coverage was no less exciting. The real drama was with the day's stage winner, Marcus Zberg, a sprinter who got dropped a half dozen times or so on the Nice climbs, and managed to claw his way back to the head group each time, then hang on at the end to win a sprint finish among a group of climbers.
"
John-
I DVR'd it, and can transfer to a tape for you, if you'd like. You can have it on Fri or later, whenever--I live on the UWS and work in the Garment district--email me directly if you want the tape and we can figure smth out.
