Wed, 1/18 UAR is ON. *Meet at Tekserve at 119 West 23 at 7:00*
John's stuck at work, so I'll lead an expedition. Figure a good assortment of back streets and destination cuisine.
Will keep between tall buildings till the wind advisory ends at 8:00 PM.
Those who show up (lights, fat-tire, etc.) will get a chocolate iPod.

Chelsea/ Stuyvesant Town/ Loisaida/ Chinatown/ Boerum Hill/ Prospect Heights/ Crown Heights/ Brownsville/ East New York/ Highland Park/ Bushwick/ Ridgewood/ Maspeth/ Elmhurst/ Woodside
[The point was to get good and lost for fifteen miles and then navigate to pre-selected eateries.]
Good pace with some nice long stretches -- particularly as we hit industrial areas. Some unpaved sections, and a particular pothole from (to?) hell, more than validated the fat tire requirement.
Cold, but manageable once we were up to speed. Winds added to the challenge but were never dangerous.
First and second food options were closed, but we came upon an unpretentious Afghan eatery that instantly adopted us and our bikes inside for a home cooked meal.
A quick sprint up the stairs to catch the arriving #7 and a short ride back to the city.
25 miles total.
