Bummer. Zank does nice work. I'll keep an eye out. That bike would be pretty recognizable even if somebody resprayed it.

insurance?

"Stolen bike. That's a bummer. If you have homeowner's or a rental insurance policy, most likely the loss of your bike is covered. Likewise the same may be true if you purchased it with a credit card - many have ""purchase protection"" in the fine print or if you hired the ""bonded and insured"" mover.

Given that tricked-out custom bikes can now rival cars in terms of cost cost, it would be an interesting thought to see Lojack or Garmin or some other compamy come up with such a tracking service catering to cyclists."

Just curious: Was it locked up?

If so, what type of lock?

No Lock

I think it was stolen from the back of a moving truck, so unfortunately no lock.

"locked in the van, but not locked ""to"" the inside of the van."

If you have a link to a pic I can keep a look out for it in CP

& other places.

Distinctive bike. It would not be hard to spot in CP in its

current state. Don't forhet to have a few ebay searches saved so that if it pops up you ebay will mail you. Just in case somebody gets a hold of it who doesnt now its stolen they might actually list it as is.

Also, any suggestions as to what to do if Someone does see the bike? I mean, should we toss a pump in his/her spokes call the police? Is your name inside the frame anywhere? I was once told to throw a nametag inside the bars and down the seat tube for with ID and phone number. So when the cops are present you pull it out to show it was your bike.

The NYPD advises anyone who sees the bike to call 911. Tell them it's a grand larceny case. They told me they would come right away. There are several identifying marks stamped into the bottom bracket.
