If you are interested in a big, fast, group ride that goes out on a regular basis all year round, Gimbels is the ride for you. It leaves from the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers every Saturday, Sunday and Holiday at 9:15.

I'll lead a group to the start this Sunday morning: Meet at 8:20am from the northeast corner of Madison Avenue and 125th Street. We leave at 8:25 sharp.

It's 11 miles to the start, we'll get there in time to do a 5 minute bathroom/water stop. Then they do a easy 15 mile warm-up. After that the group splits in two. One group goes short -- it's about 22 miles at race pace with no serious hills. The group that goes long does about 35 hard miles. Expect a pace of 23-26mph on the flat sections, but the effort level will be much higher on the climbs. Bring enough liquid calories to get you through the day.

We (those of us who keep up) will all ride home together from the finish. I'll gladly bring a map of the route for anyone who asks in advance.

where do they start?

where they end doesn't really matter right now since i don't expect to make it to the turnaround point for a year or two. :) just want to roll a few miles with them if i can.

thanks,
don

Little Neck ride

The ride starts from the south side (east bound) of the LIE Service Road, 2 blocks before (west of) Little Neck Parkway. The ride starts at 8:30am year round.
