I'd like to start taking my 1-year-old daughter on rides. Does anyone have advice on the best/safest seat or trailer? It's for a road bike. I'd also be interested to know if there's any model that comes on and off easily, so in the rare instance when I have a babysitter, I can ride without the seat! thanks!

Trailers are much safer for kids than bike seats. Burley make nice trailers.

seeking front-mount child seat

I'm looking for a child seat that attaches in front of the adult rider, like those made by Weeride. If anyone has one they'd be willing to sell, or knows someone who might, I'd be grateful if you would let me know at [email protected]. Thank you.

front-mount child seats vs back

I'm curious why you're looking for the front-mount child seat? Do you think it's safer than a seat on the back?

Front vs. back

"No doubt others have more comments but I used both at various times (front until she reached weight limit after which I switched to back - both now outgrown) with my daughter with the following observations:

FRONT:
- Lower weight limit.
- Probably my preference as child faces forward and has a better view.
- Better weight distribution.
- Slight discomfort/obstruction to knees (have to angle them out slightly) when pedalling.
- I used Bobike Mini.

BACK:
- Greater weight limit.
- Can't watch child as you ride.
- Potential for unplanned ""wheelie"" (depends somewhat on appropriate installation) due to too much weight at back.
- I used ""Flipper(?)"" due to higher weight limit and suitability for mountain bikes and easy attachment/removal.

Feel free to email if you have any questions.
